PNR Status and IRCTC

When you don’t get a confirmed reservation, you often check the PNR status by entering the 10 digit number at the related search column at the IRCTC or Indian Railways website. Is there any alternative method to find PNR status, i.e. without visiting IRCTC or other online platforms like Zoomtra.com? Yes, you can check it via SMS or by dialing the railway phone number. SMS your 10 Digit Ticket number to 139 (for example if your ticket number is 1312787680 just send SMS to 139 as PRN 1312787680); you will soon get your PNR status. To get the PNR Status by phone, dial 139 from BSNL or MTNL phone and then enter your ticket number; you will immediately get the status.

In case you are shown a confirmation of your PNR status at the IRCTC website, do take a print out of the same. Though the list gets displayed and you do get your allotted berth yet by chance to avoid last minute hassles and nuisance, the printed copy will turn out to be useful.
