E-Tickets at IRCTC Website and PNR Status

How do you buy e-tickets from the IRCTC website? You will have to be a registered member and registration at IRCTC website is completely free. Now that you are registered, log in entering your user name and password. You will then come across the ‘Plan my travel’ page. Once you select the departing and arriving station in the route of your desired train select e-ticket option followed by type of quota. Before you go for the e-ticket it will be wise on your part to take a glimpse at the trains list, displayed at the IRCTC website.

There is no assurance that tickets for your desired train are easily available. If you think you can get confirmed tickets at the railway counter or from a travel agent if not at the IRCTC website, you are wrong. It depends on the waiting list whether you get a confirmed seat or not if not at the time of booking. You can check the PNR Status to know if the seats are confirmed or not. The PNR number is available on the top left corner of the ticket. Enter this number at the related page and you will instantly get your PNR status.
